Red Alert

More Pre-Fall looks today.  This time I'm focusing on Red!  The images below are from different designer lines, but focus on the color red.

The look below is interesting to me.  The draping on this dress by Alexander Wang almost provides a mummy like look.

Another look from Alexander Wang, this one is a fabulous jacket.  Just look at the detailing.

Dsquared2 has provided the look below.  It's part nerd, part punk.  I highly recommend a pair of red capris.  They can be dressed up with heels or given an edgy look with boots or booties.

Herve Leger provides this fab little mini dress with an amazing harness.  Sex Kitten is all I can say,

This red dress from Herve Leger reminds me of some DIY shirts from the 80's.  Just remember not to run with those scissors in your eagerness to make your own version.

The last look for my Red Alert post is from one of my favorite design houses...Alexander McQueen.  A mixed material wrap coat that illustrates sophistication with an edge perfectly.

Rag Doll

My post for today include some of my favorite options from the Rag & Bone.  Designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright founded the label in 2002.  In my opinion this young label has produced some wonderful designs that are beautiful to look at and most importantly wearable.  It is a rare gift these days for a design house to produce items that are wearable by both models and the "everyday" woman.

The image below shows an adorable way to punk out an outfit that centers around shorts.  Layers are great for the constantly fluctuating pre-fall temps.  PS. I found an almost identical set of shoe at Target, just switch out the laces.

What can I say here?  Those pants are fabulous.  Find a white blazer & remove the sleeves.  A little imagination can go a long way here to reproduce this look for less.

This outfit is amazing in it's simplicity.  A DIY version would be based on some sports wear separates and could include some comfy yoga pants & a tank.  Add a couple of cool belts & you are good to go!

If this skirt could talk, I'm sure I would hear the song of a siren.  My punk brain begs for me to hit the thrift store for some leather to deconstruct & add to a pencil skirt.  I have already seen this same tank style with its high low look flooding the stores, so it should be relatively easy to find one with a similar look

I hope everyone is as inspired as I am by the sportswear type separates from this collection.  More Pre-Fall images to follow soon, so stay tuned.

Fashion Victim

For those of you who are unaware, it is the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.  This means that the rich, beautiful (and often too thin) have descended on the The Big Apple in droves to oogle and drool over the many a designer's Spring 2013 fashion line.  For the rest of us, however, we are just beginning to think about the Fall Fashion trends and how to incorporate those into our wardrobes.

In my case, here in Texas, it is entirely too HOT to be thinking about knit wear, velvet, and other accoutrements of the cooler months.  So, WHAT IS A GIRL TO DO, you ask?  Simple, the 2012 Pre-Fall Fashion Lines.

There were many designs that inspired me when I reviewed the Pre-Fall lines, so I will probably be breaking my coverage of the those collections into multiple posts.  I wanted to start with a collection that both inspired & surprised me...Diane von Furstenberg.  Normally, I find the Diane von Furstenberg designs to be a little more conservative for my tastes, after all the designer is most noted for her iconic wrap dress.  The Pre-Fall 2012 collection however seems to have the perfect mix of class and punk.  All of the following images are from this collection, so please enjoy.

Not too many people can pull off the mustard color, but the neckline is amazing & screams DIY.

Do I really need to comment on the image above?  Fabulous!  Now if only I had the legs to pull it off (sigh).

Oh the color!!! Paired with leather arm warmers & the studded belt & you've got one rockin' office outfit.

I love a interesting wrap cardigan.  I can totally see sporting this style in a cobalt blue.  Don't forget the cropped pants & ankle boots!
This outfit just screams to be worn.  Most likely to be seen at the bar or VIP room of some swanky clubs.

I love the long cowl neckline.  Not to mention that camel and red combo.  If I weren't so pale (thanks Irish heritage) I would totally try this out, but camel looks atrocious on me.

This outfit is just FUN! A built in scarf, arm warmers & wrap skirt paired with ankle boots, yum!

Rock the top half with slacks if your office dress code wont allow the skirt.

Another fun outfit that I am totally ready to sport, there is nothing to this that I don't like (except the glasses)!

Cocktails anyone?  What can I say about this, a leather LBD? AWESOME!!!

There were other designs to this collection that were also eye catching, but I picked my favs for this post.  I'll more Pre-Fall designs to show & hopefully inspire you soon.

Just Another Birthday

So, yesterday was my birthday.  I had a wonderful 4 day weekend with my family & got some great gifts that I thought I would share with you.

As you can tell I LOVE fashion.  I do not however love the price of fashion.  The average person simply cannot afford to pay ridiculous prices to look the way they want.  It's far more important to eat & have a roof over your head.  I would not normally promote the theft of intellectual property, but since major fashion designers steal from each other, are more like corporations, and charge outrageous prices so they can get richer (not an individual person trying to pay their mortgage), I'll show you my fashion forward & wallet friendly finds.

Below you'll find a scarf I found at Hot Topic (gasp) as well as the designer version.
Alexander McQueen, Retail $295
Hot Topic, Clearance less than $10

Those of you who know me can verify my love for statement bracelets.  Here we have two cuffs, one that is easily recognizable as an Edgy "Go To" piece for celebs around the world.
Hermes Collier de Chien, Retail $1025
Sam Moon, Retail $18
The other, I couldn't find an exact match of, but you can see some of the similar detailing.
Hermes, Retail $450-$620 (depending on style)

Sam Moon, Retail $7

Next up is a pair of pumps I found.  I love the color!
Christian Louboutin, Retail $795

CATO, Retail $20

Lastly is a handbag, again in a vibrant blue.  The lock on mine is a little comical, but I think I could replace it with something more sophisticated.
Hermes Birkin, Retail $17,000-$23,000 (this style)
Sam Moon, Retail $35-$40

We're From America

Happy July 4th - United States Independence Day!  A day set aside to celebrate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, a document declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

In reality this day is more known for parties, fireworks and Bar-B-Q...how very American to celebrate our independence with meat (usually artery clogging red), alcohol and things that explode.

In honor of this day, I decided to dedicate a post that depicts some American themed punk looks as well as some British themed punk looks.  I know some of you are thinking why British themed and the answer is simple...honor where we are by honoring where we came from.  There would be nothing to celebrate if our forefather's hadn't proven that this country was founded by rebels, anarchists and dare I say it...punks!

Hello Cold World

Hello Cold World!
I am back, hopefully with a vengeance.  I appreciate all the support from those of you that have checked out my blog thus far & apologize for the absence.  As many of you can certainly relate, sometimes life just gets in the way.

I have chosen some pieces from the Rachel Zoe Spring 2012 collection to relaunch my blog experience.  I hope you all enjoy them.

Minimalist design with punches of color, embraced by leather...for those of you who know me, you'll see my taste in fashion heavily featured here.  I think the looks below would be great for those of you who want to add a little rock-n-roll to your wardrobe.  Just because you aren't in your teens any more doesn't mean you can't rock an outfit with the best of them.

The out fit below could easily turn the office hallway into a catwalk, so strut your stuff ladies.

This little number may feature a cold shoulder, but with leather pants you may find yourself in the hot seat.

A little lace goes a long way.  Leave to the imagination or let your freak flag fly?!!

A jumper featuring the popular cold shoulder detail screams PLAYFUL!

This little number seems demure in tone, punch it up with a leather moto, studded heals, & rockin jewelry.

Low Energy = Minimalist Punk

Sorry for the delay in posting.  It has been a difficult week and I'm still not feeling my usual energy.  With that in mind I decided I would share a few images from the Rick Owens Spring/Summer 2012 collection.  These images have a minimalist approach which given my current mindset is great.  Please enjoy.

Feeling Blue

So I have been working like crazy lately, which hasn't left much time for my blog.  This has made me a little sad, so I thought I would share something inspired by that mood.  From the Victoria Beckam Spring 2012 line I found this lovely blue tunic style jacket.  Add leather leggings & boom, one "cool" look.
